- Up-to-date oil change, ensuring the correct viscosity for winter temps
- Test battery for Cold Cranking Amps and ability to hold a charger
- Check all fluids for freeze points or exchange out old power steering fluid, gearboxes, etc (Consider synthetic oils and winterized wiper fluids)
- Check tire tread depth and air pressures including spare tire; consider snow tires. Make sure the tire jack is accessible and ready to use
- Condition of belts, hoses, and wiper blades
- Check the HVAC system for proper vent operation and fan strength
- Ensure the engine reaches the proper operating temperature within the expected time
