Seasonal Preventative Maintenance Checklist

Whether you are planning a trip to a nearby state, traveling across the country, or transitioning from warm weather to cold, this checklist will help prepare you and your family, providing peace of mind.

  • Up-to-date oil change
  • Test battery for cold cranking amps and ability to hold a charge
  • Perform fuel injection cleaning to restore gas mileage
  • Check all fluids or exchange out old power steering fluid, gearboxes, etc. (Consider synthetic oils)
  • Check antifreeze protection level
  • Check tire tread depth, alignment, and air pressures including spare tire. Make sure the tire jack is accessible and ready to use
  • Check condition of belts, hoses, and wiper blades
  • Check the HVAC system for proper defrost and vent operation as well as fan strength
  • Ensure the engine reaches the proper operating temperature within the expected time
  • Check brakes for proper function and wear
  • Include a travel safety kit in the trunk that includes at least the following: flashlight, blanket, snack, and water
